Borough Manager

​The Borough Manager is appointed by the Borough Assembly and is responsible for the effective management of the Borough’s operations.  Working with the various Department Heads, the leadership team implements the policies and plans of the Assembly while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Borough. 

Steve Giesbrecht has been the Petersburg Borough Manager since October 2011.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in management from Saint Mary’s College of California, a master’s degree in Global Management from the University of Phoenix, and Graduate Certificate in Community Economic Development from Penn State University.  Steve worked in senior management for several Fortune 500 companies earlier in his career and spent eight years as the City Administrator for a community in Texas before moving to Alaska.
