Variance Application (Fee: $170)

A variance allows the Planning Commission to relax zoning code requirements in cases where unusual physical features of the property involved would make strict application of the zoning regulations unreasonable. A variance cannot be used to allow the use of land or structure which is not otherwise allowed in the district. (PMC 19.80)

All variance applications are reviewed by the Planning Commission. The commission follows criteria (PMC 19.80.050) to guide them in deciding whether a variance should be granted.

When applying for a variance, please provide a site plan showing existing and proposed structures, elevation of proposed structures, and distances from property lines. See How to Create a Site Plan.
