Journeyman Lineman
Petersburg Borough has an opening for the position of Lineman. This is a regular full-time position in which the Lineman will also be trained as a generation operator. Wage for a Journeyman Lineman is $59.75/hr with operator premium (Tier 4) $62.17/hr with operator premium (Tier 1-3).
Signing bonus of $5,000 after completion of six-month probationary period. Up to $15,000 reimbursable relocation expenses with a minimum two (2) year employment agreement

Petersburg Municipal Power and Light (PMPL), located in the center of the fishing and hunting mecca that is Southeast Alaska, is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Journeyman Lineman position. Petersburg, Alaska is a small, tight knit community in the middle of the Tongass National Forest and is home to a large commercial fishing fleet that targets all species of salmon, crab, black cod, shrimp and halibut. Located on Mitkof Island and served by the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system and two Alaska Airlines 737 flights per day, PMPL maintains approximately 30 miles of 24.9/14.4kV distribution line and operates the community backup diesel plant and a 2MW hydroelectric facility at Blind Slough. The successful journeyman will enjoy working on a small crew that is focused on community service and providing power to our residents and visitors.
Petersburg purchases 75% of our power from the Southeast Alaska Power Agency's hydroelectric facilities at Tyee Lake and Swan Lake in Southeast Alaska. Petersburg is home to several lodges that cater to all manner of fishing and also a booming spring bear hunt. Fall brings opportunity for Sitka Blacktail Deer, Moose and waterfowl hunting, and you may see mountain goats to chase on nearby mountains as well. Sport fishing for all species of salmon is close by as well as halibut, crab and shrimp.

The position will be trained to operate the diesel backup plant in addition to line work duties, offering a variety of job tasks and duties that may be out of the ordinary for the vocation.
