PMPL Heat Pump Rebate Program
Starting November 1st, 2023, Petersburg Municipal Power & Light is including heat pump water heaters in our rebate program!
PMPL offers a rebate program to help offset the costs of purchasing and installing energy efficient heat pumps and heat pump water heaters. This program incentivizes PMPL customers to conserve energy in hopes of controlling local electrical system loads and deferring the need to add high-cost generation equipment to our system. General rebate requirements include:
- Rebate applications must be submitted by the party paying for the heat pump/heat pump water heater and installation.
- An electrical permit is required. Installation of a heat pump involves adding a circuit, circuit breaker, & disconnect. Homeowners may install the electrical and heat pump components on their own as long as they go through the proper permitting process. Electrical permits require the customer to call for an inspection when the work is complete.
- The minimum energy ratings for the heat pumps must be:
- 9.0 or greater for the HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor)
- 14.0 or greater for the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
- Applications for rebates must be received by PMPL within 12 months of the heat pump or heat pump water heater installation.
See the Rebate Table to learn how much you qualify for. Download and fill out the appropriate application (linked below) to take advantage of this incentive. This program is subject to annual budget limitations, so submit your application in a timely manner.
Applications may be submitted to Petersburg Municipal Power & Light via mail, email, or delivered to our office upstairs at 11 S. Nordic Drive. Please call (907)772-4203 for more information.
