Residential Clean Up Voucher Program
The primary goal of this program is to clean up excessive residential refuse and debris that detract from Petersburg’s appearance and cleanliness.
Current Petersburg Borough home owners, renters or residential utility customers are eligible to buy a Clean Up voucher for use for their primary residence. The voucher allows for greatly discounted refuse disposal rates and takes the place of the traditional Spring Clean Up events of the past. Eligibility for the program will be verified by Borough utility account number or property tax statement for a families’ primary residence. Eligibility will be verified at the baler using the Borough computer system or by the customer supplying a current copy of their utility bill or property tax statement. Only one voucher is allowed to be purchased per household per year
Commercial customers are not eligible for this program. Refuse disposal costs for commercial enterprises should be factored into their rates for services and products offered to their customers.
Harbor moorage account holders and Harbor utility customers are not eligible for this program. Harbor users pay for garbage service as part of their moorage fees and should utilize the Harbor dumpsters for all refuse generated on, or by, their vessel.
Renters that have utilities paid by their landlord must supply verification of rental residency and the landlord’s utility account number. Renters are responsible for payment of the voucher fee.
Non-profit organizations may take part in the program and purchase one voucher per year even if they do not have a current utility account.
Vouchers may be purchased at the baler only. Vouchers must be paid in advance of receiving commodity credit. Commodity credit will be tracked at the baler. Commodity weights exceeding voucher limits will be subject to normal rates.
Vouchers are valid for one year after purchase. Upon voucher expiration, a new voucher may be purchased.
