Roof Snow Loads
Recent snowfall has caused heavy snow accumulation on roofs in the Petersburg area. Many structures are already at or above their roof capacity. Some structures have already collapsed. The current forecast calls for warming weather and rain beginning early next week. It is important that residents and businesses remove snow from their roofs prior to that snow becoming saturated with rainwater, which could result in structural damage or collapse. If snow buildup is heavy and cannot be removed before it becomes saturated with rain, occupants are urged to relocate to safer quarters until such time as the roof in question can be cleared of snow and the structure made safe for occupation once again.
